The genus Panax Linn. growing wild in India including Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim is the subject of this Revision. Hitherto 2 species and 1 variety have been described in Indian Floras. The author has discovered 2 more species viz. P. sikkimensis Ban. and P. assamicus Ban. which he named and described with Latin diagnosis in the present paper.- Materials for a Flora of North Bihar-I: Champaran District

The present paper deals with the vascular plants collected from Champaran District, North Bihar, deposited in the Central National Herbarium (CAL). The work presented here does not purport to be a complete one. A Flora of North Bihar could be attempted on the basis of a lot of more field works in due course. The enumeration includes 552 species, 16 varieties under 362 genera and 84 families. The leading families are Leguminosae with 61 species and 4 varieties, Gramineae with 55 species and 1 variety, followed by Cyperaceae with 30 species, Euphorbiaceae with 29 species and 1 variety and Compositae with 26 species respectively. The arrangement of families and genera is according to that of G. Bentham & J. D. Hooker in Genera Plantarum (1862-1883) and the sequence of specific and infraspecific taxa is according to the arrangement in J. D. Hooker's The Flora of British India (1872-1897). The nomenclature has been checked and revised wherever necessary.

Microula sensu lalo (Boraginaceae-Eritrichieae) is a genus with about twelve species mainly occurring at high altitudes in the Himalayas, Tibet and Western China. Four species are described here from India and Sikkim including M. duthei which is a new species from Sikkim added by the senior author.- New Distributional Record of Pternopetalum tanakae (Franch. & Sav.) A critical review of the Polygala arillata complex is presented here. The study has resulted in five new combinations with higher status viz. P. arillata var. chartacea (P. arillata forma chartacea) ; P. arillata var. revoluta (P. arillata form a revoluta) ; P. angustifolia (P. arillata var. angustifolia ; P. angustifolia var. scandens (P. arillata forma scandens) ; P. globulifera var. kachinensis (P. arillata forma kachinensis) and several new distributional records. A diagnostic key to P. arillata complex and few illustrations are also provided for easy identification.- Fuzzy Sets Approach to Quality Control

The quality characteristics are made up of different types of sets and can be classified as variables from the instrument measurements based on infinite natural sets, and attributes for non conforming descriptions based on the binary or natural sets. However, there is also a type of quality characteristics-linguistic-which is used in this paper for the subjective estimations of casting defects. The goal of this paper is to show how a fuzzy set theory can be applied to well-known powerful techniques of the quality control, using linguistic data for the casting defects. Keywords

This paper presents the basic concept of reliability applicable to Mechanical Engineering. The paper also includes the results obtained and the conclusions drawn from the computer aided reliability analysis of equipment of thermal power plant done by the authors as an example of how to use the theories of reliability in actual engineering practice. However, in reality in the operation and maintenance of a plant errors arise out of a quite specific combination of conditions in the man-machine system and it is on the total system that the attention is centered.- Tool Life Test for the Form Milling Cutters with Improved Design Incorporating the Principles of Free Cutting

Form milling cutters with improved design incorporating the principle of free cutting find their useful applications manufacturing spur and helical gears, rack piece production, rough cutting operation of big level gears in mass production and in repair jobs.It is therefore, the matter of industrial importance to carry out experiments with the above mentioned cutters so as to deduce a cutting speed formula.
